Enhance your current solar system with battery storage to maximise energy independence. Store surplus generation for evening use.
Store surplus solar energy or off-peak power with high-performance battery storage systems designed to cut costs and increase self-sufficiency.
Battery storage works perfectly alongside solar PV, capturing surplus electricity your panels generate during the day so you can use it in the evening — instead of drawing expensive power from the grid. Lower energy bills, greater independence, and a smaller carbon footprint.
Even without solar PV, battery storage unlocks savings. Charge batteries using cheaper off-peak tariffs and power your home when rates are highest, reducing costs and avoiding price spikes.
Every installation is tailored to your property, lifestyle and energy needs. We focus on reliable, high-performance components chosen for longevity, backed by expert installation from our directly employed electricians.
No. You can install a standalone battery that charges from the grid using off-peak tariffs and discharges during peak hours to reduce your bills.
This depends on your energy usage, solar generation, and desired independence. We’ll assess everything during your free site survey.
Most battery installations are completed in a single day. Combined with solar PV, the whole project typically takes 2–3 days.
Homeowners with solar + battery typically save 30–50% more than solar alone. Standalone battery owners using off-peak tariffs can save £300–500+ per year.
Garages, utility rooms, lofts, or externally on an outside wall. Our IP-rated systems are suitable for indoor and outdoor installation.

A solar battery stores the electricity your panels generate but your home is not using at the time. Most generation happens in the middle of the day, when many households are out — without storage, that surplus is exported to the grid for a few pence, and you buy electricity back at a much higher rate in the evening.
A battery closes that gap. It charges from your surplus during the day, then powers your home through the evening and overnight from your own stored energy. Typically this lifts the share of your own generation you actually use from around a third to 70–80%. Paired with a time-of-use tariff, a battery can also charge from the grid on a cheap overnight rate and run the house during peak-price hours.
Batteries can be fitted alongside a new solar panel system or retrofitted to panels you already own. We assess compatibility during your free survey.
The right battery size depends on your evening and overnight electricity use, not just your panel output. As a general guide for a UK home:
| Home | Typical annual usage | Suggested battery | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–2 bedroom | Around 1,800 kWh | 3–5 kWh | Evening lighting, TV, cooking |
| 3 bedroom family home | Around 2,900 kWh | 5–10 kWh | Most evening and overnight use |
| 4–5 bedroom | Around 4,100 kWh | 10–13 kWh | Whole-evening use, some appliances |
| High usage / EV / heat pump | 5,000 kWh and above | 13 kWh and above | Evening use plus vehicle or heating load |
Oversizing wastes money on capacity you never cycle; undersizing means you still buy peak-rate electricity. We size the battery around your actual half-hourly usage, not a rule of thumb.
Battery storage is priced by usable capacity (kWh) and how much electrical work the installation needs. As a broad guide to typical UK installed pricing:
| Battery size | Typical installed cost | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| 3–5 kWh | £2,500 – £4,000 | Smaller homes, lower evening use |
| 5–10 kWh | £4,000 – £7,000 | The most common choice for family homes |
| 10–13 kWh | £7,000 – £10,000 | Larger homes, EV owners, whole-evening cover |
| 13 kWh and above | £10,000+ | High usage, heat pumps, backup requirements |
Figures are approximate market ranges — we provide a fixed written quote after your free survey. Battery storage installed alongside solar, or retrofitted to a home, currently qualifies for 0% VAT in the UK.
Without a battery, a typical home uses only about a third of the electricity its panels generate — the rest is exported cheaply and bought back at peak rates. A battery stores that surplus so you use 70–80% of your own generation, cutting what you buy from the grid.
It depends on your evening and overnight usage. As a guide, a 3 bedroom home typically suits 5–10 kWh, while larger homes or those with an EV or heat pump usually need 10 kWh or more. We size it on your actual usage during the free survey.
Most home batteries carry a 10-year warranty and are designed to last 10–15 years or more, depending on brand and how many charge cycles they go through each year.
Yes. Battery storage installed alongside solar, or retrofitted to a home, currently qualifies for 0% VAT in the UK. We apply the correct rate on your quote.
Many batteries support backup power, keeping essential circuits or the whole home running during an outage. It depends on the unit and how it is configured — we cover this at survey stage.
Yes. Batteries can be retrofitted to most existing solar systems. We check compatibility with your current inverter and setup during the free survey.
